Trigeminal Neuralgia

Trigeminal neuralgia, widely known as "the most severe pain under the sky", has long been a challenging condition for the global medical community. For decades, researchers around the world have been exploring its exact cause, yet no universally agreed conclusion has been reached. The mainstream view currently holds that primary trigeminal neuralgia is mainly triggered by vascular compression of the trigeminal nerve, while secondary cases are usually caused by tumors, inflammation, trauma and other intracranial or extracranial organic lesions.

However, existing treatments including microvascular decompression, radiofrequency thermocoagulation, balloon compression and medication can only relieve symptoms temporarily. A large proportion of patients experience pain recurrence after surgery, and some may suffer new complications such as facial numbness and facial paralysis. Long-term use of painkillers also brings potential side effects to the digestive system, liver and kidney functions.

After 12 years of continuous clinical observation and practice, Tiandao Traditional Chinese Medicine in Qingdao, China, has proposed a new clinical conclusion: most idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia cases belong to post-herpetic neuralgia caused by zoster sine eruption. Many patients were infected by varicella-zoster virus years ago without any visible skin rashes, and the virus hid deep inside the trigeminal nerve fibers, gradually eroding the nerve myelin sheath and causing abnormal nerve discharge and severe pain.

Based on this understanding, the clinic has developed a Five-Modality Detoxification and Pain-Relief Therapy, which has achieved considerable improvement in thousands of clinical cases. Most patients reported remarkable reduction in pain frequency and intensity after systematic treatment. This new insight breaks the long-standing single cognition of "vascular compression as the primary cause", providing a brand new direction for global trigeminal neuralgia research and clinical treatment. Relevant clinical data is still under further verification by third-party medical institutions.
